Mamma Mia! Film to Top $500 Million in International Grosses
and Julie Walters in Mamma Mia!

The film version of the hit Broadway musical Mamma Mia! will reach $500 million in international grosses this week, and will begin playing in its 50th market, Italy, on Friday, October 3.
The film, which uses the hit music of the Swedish supergroup ABBA, is directed by Phyllida Lloyd, who also helmed the stage version, and stars Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Stellan Skarsgård, Christine Baranski, Julie Walters, Amanda Seyfried, and Dominic Cooper.
The plot concerns a young girl on a Greek island who’s about to get married, and invites the three men she thinks might be her father, much to her mother’s horror.
