Two-time Tony Award winner Lily Tomlin will join ABC’s Desperate Housewives in the recurring role of the sister of Mrs. McCluskey (played by Emmy Award winner Kathryn Joosten), according to TVGuide.com.

When Desperate Housewives returns to the air, the series will take place five years in the future from its last episode. Its stars include Felicity Huffman, Teri Hatcher, Marcia Cross, Eva Longoria Parker, Dana Delany, Nicolette Sheridan, and James Denton.

Tomlin received a special Tony in 1977 for her solo show Appearing Nitely and the 1986 Best Actress Tony for The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe, the solo, multi-character piece she wrote with longtime partner Jane Wagner. That show was revived on Broadway in 2000. Her many film and television credits include Nine to Five, A Prairie Home Companion, Nashville, The West Wing, Will & Grace, Murphy Brown, and Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-In.
