Hoch, Grant, Joseph, Zinn to Participate in NYC Hip-Hop Theater Festival

Danny Hoch, Craig “mums” Grant, Marc Bamuthi Joseph, and Howard Zinn are among the artists participating in the eighth annual Hip-Hop Theater Festival, to play various New York City venues, September 23-October 11.

The festival aims to showcase the artistic form of Hip-Hop culture through fully-produced theater works, staged readings, educational panels, dance showcases, and workshops.

Highlights will include Hoch’s Taking Over, presented free of charge in a tour across all five boroughs (various locations, October 1-11); Grant’s Paradox of the Urban Cliché, directed by Sarah Sidman (New York Theatre Workshop, October 4); Joseph’s solo performance the break/s, directed by Michael John Garces (Skirball Center for the Performing Arts, September 23-27); and the Hip-Hop remix of Voices: A Peoples History of the United States (Skirball Center, October 2), featuring some of today’s hottest talent from the Hip-Hop generation reading the voices from America’s progressive history as documented by Anthony Arnove and Zinn.
