Hamill, McCourt, O’Kelly, O’Neill, Yarrow, et al. Set for Irish Arts Center Season

The Irish Arts Center will present the New York premiere of Donal O’Kelly’s acclaimed solo piece Catalpa, November 12-30.

The play, which features live musical accompaniment by Trevor Knight, is based on the true story of the daring ship rescue of six Irish prisoners in 1875, and takes audiences on a journey from New Bedford, Massachusetts to Fermantle, Australia to New York City,

The Center’s other fall events include a screening of Paul Wagner’s concert film Absolutely Irish (September 16); a tribute to Irish-American musician and activist Danny Cassidy with special guests including Pete Hamill, Malachy McCourt, and Dan Barry (September 25); an evening with Netherland author Joseph O’Neill (October 8); a benefit concert for the Mercy Centre with special guest including Peter Yarrow (October 12); a special 10th anniversary engagement my Darrah Carr Dance (October 23-26); and An Irish Christmas with musician Mick Moloney and special guest (December 5-14).
