Songwriters Alan and Marilyn Bergman will be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Savannah Film Festival, October 25-November 1 in Savannah, Georgia.

The festival will also honor actor Malcolm McDowell and Variety editor-in-chief Peter Bart. Among the films to be screened will be Charlie Kaufman's Synecdoche, New York, starring Philip Seymour Hoffman as a theater director.

The Bergmans wrote the lyrics for the Broadway shows Something More and Ballroom, and their songs were also used in Street Corner Symphony and Andre DeShields' Harlem Nocturne. They are currently working on the musical Like Jazz. They are best known for their work with Barbra Streisand, including writing the Oscar-winning song "The Way We Were" and the score to the film Yentl.
