Cast members from The 39 Steps, currently performing at the Cort Theatre, will make several appearances in September as part of “Hitchcock Month,” a series of events honoring Alfred Hitchcock, the director of the legendary 1935 film on which the quick-change Broadway comedy is based.

Cast appearances will include a Q&A and in store signing at Virgin Megastore Times Square on Wednesday, September 17; a special screening of rare Alfred Hitchcock television appearances, hosted by the cast, at the Paley Center on September 18; and as previously announced, Arnie Burton, Sam Robards, and Cliff Saunders will appear as part of “Hitchcock On Stage” at Borders Bookstore at Columbus Circle, September 22.

Additional “Hitchcock Month” events will include a “Hitchcock Look-a-like Contest” through September 16; mock Hitchcock video short submissions; and a BAM screening of the 1935 film, through September 11.

Directed by Maria Aitken, the play is a comedic take on Hitchcock’s 1935 classic thriller of the same name about a man who is forced by a mysterious woman’s death into a cross-country race for his life. The play is adapted by Patrick Barlow, based on an original concept by Simon Corble and Nobby Dimon and on the book by John Buchan. The play won the 2007 Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Comedy, as well as two Tony Awards, and two Drama Desk Awards.

The cast also includes Jennifer Ferrin. The creative team includes Peter McKintosh (sets and costumes), Kevin Adams (lighting), and Mic Pool (sound).
