McCarthy, Moore, Skinner, et al. Set for York Theater’s Zorba

Full casting has been announced for Zorba, which kicks off the York Theatre Company’s fall Musicals in Mufti series, dedicated to shows with books by Tony Award winner Joseph Stein.

Zorba, which will run September 14-16, is an adaptation of Nikos Kazantzakis’ novel about a lusty Greek fisherman. Featuring a score by John Kander and Fred Ebb, the show will be directed by Steven Yuhasz. The cast will include Jeff McCarthy as Zorba, Emily Skinner as The Leader, Crista Moore as The Widow, Aaron Ramey as Nikos, Robin De Jesus as Mikiko, along with Raymond Bokhour, Jane Brockman, Joseph Cullinane, Vince D’Elia, Denis Lambert, Ken McMullen, Tina Stafford, and Deone Zanotto.

Up next in the Mufti series are Enter Laughing (September 28-30) with a score by Stan Daniels; The Body Beautiful (October 12-14), co-authored by Will Glickman and featuring a score by Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick; and the revised version of Stephen Schwartz’s cult favorite The Baker’s Wife (October 26-28).
