Hill, Nottage, Prince, Tunie, et al. Set for Cherry Lane Gala

Dulé Hill, Harold Prince, Lynn Nottage, and Tamara Tunie are among the participants in Cherry Jubilee!, a gala celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Cherry Lane Theatre’s Mentor Project. The event will take place on October 1 at Capitale.

Hill serves as co-chair of the event, which will honor legendary director Prince, playwright Nottage, actress Tunie, and O. Aldon James, the President of the National Arts Club.

The gala will be hosted by Harry Smith, anchor of CBS’s Early Show; Dana Tyler, co-anchor of CBS-2 News; and best-selling author Adriana Trigiani. Presenters include playwright Alfred Uhry, writer Theresa Rebeck, director Leah C. Gardiner and producer Joan Firestone. Performers will be announced at a later date.

Some of the playwrights and artists Cherry Lane has fostered over the year’s that will be in attendance include: Alfred Uhry, Amiri Baraka, Ed Bullins, Israel Horovitz, A.R. Gurney, Michael Weller, Nottage, Jules Feiffer, Charles Fuller as well as Anne Washburn, Anton Dudley, Bathsheba Doran, Bridget Wimberly, Courtney Baron, Sheila Callaghan and Katori Hall, whose new play Hoodoo Love will launch Cherry Lane’s 2007-2008 season.
