Atlanta’s Suzi Bass Award Nominations Are Announced

Nominations for the Suzi Bass Awards, honoring the best of Atlanta’s professional theater, have been announced. Winners in a total of 20 categories will be revealed at a ceremony on November 5 at the Fox Theatre.

The Alliance Theatre led all producing organizations with 20 nominations, including eight for the musical Sister Act, followed by Actor’s Express and Theatre in the Square with 17 nominations each. Synchronicity Performance Group’s production of the musical, A Year with Frog and Toad, garnered 10 nominations, the most of any show.

The True Colors Theatre Company’s production of Lonne Elder III’s Ceremonies in Dark Old Men earned nominations for actors Glynn Turman and Jason Dirden and director Kenny Leon. The “Spirit of Suzi” award will be presented to Jerry’s Habima Theatre, which features adult actors with developmental disabilities.
