Complete Cast Announced for How The Grinch Stole Christmas! Cullum, Hopkins, and McCormick to Co-Star

Two-time Tony Award winner John Cullum, Kaitlin Hopkins, and Michael McCormick will join Patrick Page in the musical adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ holiday tale How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, which will play Broadway’s Hilton Theater, October 25-January 7. The show, which will be helmed by Matt August, will open officially on November 8.

The cast will also include Rusty Ross, Caitlin Beck, Nicole Bocchi, Aaron Conley, James DuChateau, Eamon Foley, Libby Jacobson, Caroline London, Michael Morano, Jan Neuburger, Heather Tepe, Price Waldman, and Brynn Williams. The ensemble will feature Jahaan Amin, Kevin Csolak, Antonio D’Amato, Janet Dickinson, Danielle Fried,
Andre Garner, Brianna Gentiella, Amy Griffin, Sky Jarrett, Kurt Kelly, Jess LeProtto, Daniel LaMache, Katie Micha, Jillan Mueller, Josie Roberts, Nikki Rose, William Ryall, Molly Ryan, Jeff Skowron, Pearl Sun, Rafael Luis Tillis, Corwin Tuggles, Kelley Rock Wiese, and Lawson Young.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, which was first published in 1957, tells the story of a mean-spirited creature who literally steals the holiday from a cheerful group of townsfolk called the Whos. Nonetheless, they decide to celebrate Christmas, even inviting the Grinch to join the festivities. The show has been a long-time holiday favorite at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego, where it was directed by Tony Award winner Jack O’Brien. He will serve as the production creator and supervisor for the Broadway production.

The show features book and lyrics by Timothy Mason and music by Mel Marvin; the creative team includes John DeLuca (original choreography), Bob Richard (recreating choreography), John Lee Beatty (sets), Robert Morgan (costumes), Pat Collins (lighting), Acme Sound Partners (sound), Michael Curry (puppetry), Gregory Meeh (special effects), Angelina Avallone (makeup design), Thomas Augustine (hair and wig design), Joshua Rosenblum (musical direction and vocal arrangement), Michael Starobin (orchestrations), and David Krane (dance arrangements).

Cullum, who will play Old Max, won Tony Awards for Shenandoah and On the Twentieth Century and is beloved by television viewers for his role on Northern Exposure. Hopkins, who will play Mama Who, has starred Off-Broadway in The Great American Trailer Park Musical, Bare, and Bat Boy: The Musical and recently starred in the Williamstown Theatre Festival production of The Opposite of Sex. McCormick, who will play Grandpa Who, recently starred on Broadway in The Pajama Game. His other Main Stem credits include Gypsy, Marie Christine, and Oliver! Page, who will play the Grinch, is currently starring as Scar in The Lion King. His other Broadway credits include Julius Caesar and Beauty and the Beast and he recently won the Helen Hayes Award for his performance as Iago in Othello.
