Bebe Neuwirth to Play Roxie Hart in Broadway’s Chicago

Tony Award winner Bebe Neuwirth will return to the long-running revival of Chicago, December 31-March 25, but this time she will take on the role of Roxie Hart.

She originated the role of Velma Kelly in the revival and earned a Tony Award for her performance. On November 14, she will join the show’s other original cast members, including Ann Reinking, Joel Grey, and Marcia Lewis, for the show’s gala 10th Anniversary celebration.

Neuwirth won her first Tony Award for the revival of Sweet Charity. Her other New York stage credits include A Chorus Line,Dancin’, Damn Yankees, Fosse, and Here Lies Jenny. She is an Emmy Award winner for Cheers and recently starred in the NBC series Law & Order: Trial By Jury.

Chicago currently stars Bianca Marroquin as Roxie, Brenda Braxton as Velma, Usher as Billy Flynn, Lillias White as Mama Morton, and Kevin Chamberlin as Amos Hart. Roz Ryan will take over as Mama on September 11, the same day that Rob Bartlett returns as Amos.
