Michael C. Hall will star alongside Michael Chernus, David Costabile, Mamie Gummer, Pablo Schreiber, and Virginia Louise Smith in the New York premiere of Noah Haidle’s comedy Mr. Marmalade at the Roundabout’s Laura Pels Theater, under the direction of Michael Greif. The production will run November 1-January 29, with an official opening scheduled for November 20.

In this new comedy, first seen at South Coast Repertory, adult behavior is interpreted through the characters of Lucy (Gummer) and Larry (Schreiber), two very smart children. Lucy’s imaginary world revolves around a too-busy businessman named Mr. Marmalade (Hall), who never has time for the child who adores him.

Hall has spent the past five years playing David Fisher on HBO’s Emmy-winning series Six Feet Under. His Broadway credits include Cabaret and Chicago, and he appeared in the Williamstown Theatre Festival production of R Shomon. Hall is married to actress Amy Spanger, who will be seen in the upcoming New York Musical Theater Festival production of Feeling Electric.

Chernus has appeared Off-Broadway in A Number, Finer Noble Gases, and Golden Age. Costabile, who is currently playing Launce in Two Gentlemen of Verona, was seen on Broadway in Caroline, or Change. Gummer will make her Off-Broadway debut in Mr. Marmalade, while Schreiber was most recently seen in Manuscript and has a major role in the soon-to-be-released film Into the Fire. Smith is currently on Broadway in The Pillowman and has appeared in four previous Roundabout productions.

Greif received a Tony Award nomination for Rent and directed the Broadway musical Never Gonna Dance. His numerous Off-Broadway credits include Spatter Pattern, or How I Got Away with It, The Distance From Here, and Machinal.

The design team for Mr. Marmalade includes Allen Moyer (sets), Constance Hoffman (costumes), Kevin Adams (lights), and Michael Friedman (original music).
