Well, the critically acclaimed play by Lisa Kron that was a big hit for The Public Theater in 2004, will begin performances at Broadway’s Longacre Theatre on March 10, with an official opening scheduled for March 30.

Once again, the production will be directed by Leigh Silverman and will star Kron and Jayne Houdyshell, who received an Obie Award for her performance. No other casting has yet been announced. The show is being produced by Elizabeth I. McCann, Scott Rudin, and Boyett Ostar; the creative team includes Tony Walton (sets), John Gromada (sound), Miranda Hoffman (costumes), and Christopher Akerlind (lighting).

Well tells the autobiographical story of Kron and her mother (played by Houdyshell), a community activist, using an unusual form in which the actors actually critique the script while performing it. The Public Theater production received numerous nominations for Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, and Lucille Lortel Awards.

Kron’s previous work as an actor and writer includes 2.5 Minute Ride, 101 Humiliating Stories, Brides of the Moon, and the recent Oedipus at Palm Springs. She also appeared Off-Broadway in the recent revival of The Normal Heart and in Paul Rudnick’s The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told.
