Fyvush Finkel Will Perform at Yiddishfest 2005

Yiddish Theater star and Emmy Award winner Fyvush Finkel will take part in Yiddishfest 2005, a free event at Lincoln Center’s Damrosch Park, beginning at 6pm on Sunday, September 18. Other performers on the bill include David Krakauer, The Klez Dispensers, and Joanne Borts.

Finkel will appear with his sons Elliot and Ian. He’ll perform selections from his just-released album It’s Never Too Late (Original Cast Records), which features songs from Fiddler on the Roof and Gigi plus original material.

In addition to his work in the Yiddish theater, Finkel played Mordcha the Innkeeper in both the original Broadway production of Fiddler and the 1981 revival. He also starred in Finkel’s Follies, Café Crown, and as Mushnik in the Off-Broadway production of Little Shop of Horrors. Finkel is best known for his Emmy Award-winning role of Douglas Wambaugh on the CBS series Picket Fences; more recenty, he appeared in the series Boston Public. He will also perform in the upcoming National Alliance for Musical Theatre’s (NAMT) presentation of Party Come Here, by Daniel Goldfarb and David Kirshenbaum.
