Clark, Cook, Naughton, White, et al. Part of American Songbook Series

Tony Award-winners Victoria Clark, Barbara Cook, Brian Stokes Mitchell, James Naughton, Benadette Peters, and Lillias White are all set to perform in Lincoln Center’s upcoming American Songbook series.

As previously reported, the series will officially launch with Ricky Ian Gordon and Doug Varone’s production of Orpheus and Euridice at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Rose Theater, October 5-8. It will conclude on May 1 with a concert by Peters at Avery Fisher Hall. The remainder of the series’ concerts will be held in JALC’s more intimate Allen Hall. Mitchell will sing on January 12, followed by indie rock singer Sufjan Stevens (January 14), opera great Deborah Voigt (January 25), bluegrass group Rhonda Vincent and the Rage (January 26), a revue of songs by contemporary composer John Bucchino (January 27), and a performance by Grammy-nominated rockers Fountain of Wayne (January 28).

Slated for February are cabaret star Eric Comstock’s salute to composer Jule Styne (February 8), country/folk group Hem (February 9), The Light in the Piazza‘s Victoria Clark (February 10), a “Loser’s Lounge” tribute to Burt Bacharach (February 11), and pop/rock songwriter Duncan Sheik (February 22). James Naughton will be joined by his offspring Greg and Keira for a performance on February 23. The following night, February 24, Barbara Cook and Brent Barrett will celebrate the work of lyricist David Zippel. On February 25, Lillias White will sing the songs of her dear friend, the late composer Cy Coleman.
