Cannavale, Liotta, Plummer, et al. Win Primetime Emmy Awards

Theater stars Bobby Cannavale, Ray Liotta, and Amanda Plummer are among the early announced winners of the 57th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. The announcements were made at the Creative Arts Emmy ceremony on Sunday, September 11 in Los Angeles.


Cannavale,won for Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his recurring role as Vince on Will & Grace. He was seen last season in the New Group production of Hurlyburly, and will appear this Spring in the company’s production of Everything is Turning into Beautiful opposite his girlfirend, Annabella Sciorra.

Liotta, who starred on Broadway in Match, was named Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his work on E.R.; and Plummer, a Tony Award winner for Agnes of God, was named Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

The 58th Annual Tony Awards (2004) was named Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Special; Broadway: The American Musical, the acclaimed PBS miniseries, was named Outstanding Nonfiction Series; and the “Live from Lincoln Center” production of Passion was named Outstanding Special Class Program.

Other theatrical-oriented award winners included the song “Mary Jane/Mary Lane” from Showtime’s production of Reefer Madness for Outstanding Music and Lyrics; the NBC production of the musical A Christmas Carol for Music Direction; the HBO production of Lackawanna Blues for Outstanding Casting of a Miniseries, Movie or Special; and actor Keith David for Outstanding Voice-Over Performance for narrating the PBS special The Rise and Fall of Jack Johnson.

The remainder of the Primetime Emmy Awards will be given out on Sunday, September 18.
