Bernadette Peters’ Husband Killed in European Helicopter Crash

Michael Wittenberg, husband of the Tony Award-winning performer Bernadette Peters, was killed in a helicopter crash in the European country of Montenegro on Monday, according to the Bosnian news service B92. An investment advisor, Wittenberg was one of four people killed in the crash. He and Peters had been married for nine years and had no children.

Police reportedly believe that the most likely cause of the crash was the helicopter’s rotor blade striking a power line, but the accident is being investigated by local authorities and a team of civil aviation investigators from Belgrade. The helicopter was owned by Mile Dragic, a jailed military supplier, who told authorities that no one in his company except him was authorized to use the helicopter.
