Midtown International Theatre Festival Seeks Scripts

The Midtown International Theatre Festival is now seeking scripts for its fifth annual event, scheduled to be held in July, 2004 at the Abingdon Theatre Arts Complex (site of the recently completed fourth annual Festival).

The MITF showcases theater of all genres: new dramas, comedies, musicals, dance pieces, one-person shows, classical works, and so on. According to executive producer John Chatterton, the festival this year featured a wide range of shows including “a one-man Macbeth, a backstage comedy, a 9/11-themed drama, a musical about two thrill-killers, and a story which had two guys kicking each other in the balls.”

Chatterton goes on to state that “the Festival was created to showcase works that might otherwise not be seen. So whether it’s a musical about the end of the world or a version of Dr. Faustus…we’re open to any type of production, as long as it’s done professionally.”

The deadline for script submissions is January 15, 2004. All entries must be postmarked by that date and must be accompanied by a Festival application form, downloadable from the website www.midtownfestival.org.
