Casting has been announced for the Broadway-bound production of Harmony. The show, with music by pop music star Barry Manilow and book and lyrics by Bruce Sussman, is about the Comedian Harmonists, a 1920s German singing group; it was originally scheduled to reach New York after a production at the La Jolla Playhouse in 1997, but those plans fell through.

Starring in the new production will be Brian D’Arcy James (Sweet Smell of Success, Titanic), Stephen R. Buntrock (Oklahoma!, Jane Eyre), Janine LaManna (The Look of Love, Seussical), Kate Baldwin (Thoroughly Modern Millie, The Full Monty), Bradley Dean (Man of La Mancha, Jane Eyre), Aaron Lazar (Oklahoma!, The Phantom of the Opera), David Turner (The Invention of Love), and Thom Christopher Warren (The Lion King).

Harmony will begin preview performances in its pre-Broadway tryout engagement at the Forrest Theater in Philadelphia on November 25 and will open there on Wednesday, December 10. The production is scheduled to premiere on Broadway in early 2004; it will be directed by David Warren and choreographed by Peter Pucci, with scenic design by Derek McLane, costume design by David Woolard, lighting design by David Binkley, and orchestrations by Don Sebesky.
