Broadway Goes to the Highest Bidder at the 16th Annual BC/EFA Flea Market and Grand Auction

Are you ready to make your Broadway debut? You have the chance to secure the opportunity to do so at the 16th Annual Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS Flea Market and Grand Auction. Every year, stars from Broadway, Off-Broadway, and daytime drama come together to raise money for critically needed services for people with AIDS, HIV, or HIV-related illnesses. This year’s event takes place on Sunday, September 22, in Shubert Alley and on West 44th Street, 10am-7pm.

A host of treasures, including autographed posters and playbills, will be available for purchase. As always, the event will culminate in the Grand Auction, during which lots of exciting and unique items are auctioned off to the highest bidder; most exciting of all is the chance to make an appearance in some of the Great White Way’s most popular musicals, including Mamma Mia!, Rent, and 42nd Street. You can also make a bid for a walk-on role in any number of TV’s biggest hits, such as Friends and Everybody Loves Raymond, or to spend a day on the set of the show Alias. Other items up for grabs include furniture from the final season of The Rosie O’Donnell Show, rare theatrical memorabilia signed by stars, and tickets to some of the most highly anticipated Broadway opening nights of the new season — e.g., Gypsy, Flower Drum Song, Dance of the Vampires, and Man of La Mancha.

The Celebrity Table is one of the most popular features of the all-day event; here, stars sign autographs and pose for photos in exchange for donations to BC/EFA. The roster of theater notables scheduled to appear this year includes Lucie Arnaz, Gary Beach, Blair Brown, Len Cariou, Kathleen Chalfant, Barbara Cook, Jonathan Dokuchitz, Raúl Esparza, Edie Falco, Harvey Fierstein, Hunter Foster, Randy Graff, Harriet Harris, Neil Patrick Harris, Schuler Hensley, Chad Lowe, John McMartin, Lauren Mitchell, Brad Oscar, Louise Pitre, Stanley Tucci, and Patrick Wilson. In addition, such daytime TV stars as Thom Christopher, Elizabeth Hubbard, David Andrew McDonald, James Mitchell, Ruth Warrick, and Jordi Vilasuso will be on hand.
