Oscar winner Helen Mirren will return to Broadway this spring in a transfer of the West End production of Peter Morgan’s The Audience. Mirren will reprise her Olivier Award-winning performance as Queen Elizabeth in the play, which will run February 17-June 28 at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre. Opening night is set for March 8. The announcement confirms recent rumors sparked by an interview Mirren gave London's Daily Mail.

Two-time Tony Award winner Stephen Daldry directs The Audience, which explores the reign of Queen Elizabeth II from 1952 to 2012 through her weekly meetings with England's prime ministers. Morgan also wrote the screenplay for the 2006 film The Queen, which starred Mirren portraying the same legendary figure. She earned an Academy Award for her performance.

The production is designed by six-time Tony Award winner Bob Crowley, with lighting by two-time Tony Award winner Rick Fisher, sound by Tony Award winner Paul Arditti, and music by Paul Englishby.

The complete 18-member company will be announced in the future.

Mirren was last seen on Broadway in 2002 in Dance of Death, for which she received a Tony nomination. Mirren's first Tony nod came in 1995 for her Broadway debut in A Month in the Country.
