The first selection for this year's 1st Irish Theatre Festival has been announced. The McGowan Trilogy, a series of one-act plays by Seamus Scanlon, will be presented at The Cell, from September 11-October 5. Kira Simring, the cell's artistic director, will direct.

The McGowan Trilogy explores the life of cold-blooded Irish revolutionary Victor McGowan. It consists of three-plays, "Dancing at Lunacy," "The Long Wet Grass," and "Boys Swam Before Me."

Featured in the company are Cindy Boyle, Philip Callen, Conor McIntyre, Anna Nugent, and Paul Nugent. The creative team is made up of Gertjan Houben (scenic and costume design), Siena Zoe Allen (costume design), and Dylan Fusillo (sound design).

Galway native Scanlon is a resident artist at the cell, which staged "Dancing at Lunacy" in 2012. His story collection ''As Close as You'll Ever Be," was released by Cairn Press in 2012.
