Jason Robert Brown's Broadway musical 13 will be adapted for the big screen by CBS Films, according to published reports. The screenplay will be adapted by Bert V. Royal (Easy A) from Dan Elish and Robert Horn’s original book for the musical. Laurence Mark is producing.

13, which follows New York teenager Evan Goldman as he's forced to move with his mom to Indiana, opened at Broadway's Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre in 2008 and played for 105 performances. Jeremy Sams directed, with choreography by Christopher Gattelli and musical direction by Tom Kitt.

Producer Laurence Mark recently worked with CBS Films on the movie Last Vegas, which starred Michael Douglas, Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman, and Kevin Kline. In 2006, he produced a film adaptation of the Broadway musical Dreamgirls.

Jason Robert Brown recently won 2014 Tony Awards for his score and orchestrations for the now-closed The Bridges of Madison County. He will be represented on Broadway this season with the new musical Honeymoon in Vegas and the play You Can't Take It With You, for which he is writing original music. In addition, Brown's musical The Last Five Years has been turned into a movie starring Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan. The film has yet to be released.
