Dramas by Conor McPherson and Hugh Leonard Set for Irish Repertory Theatre Season

Revivals of dramas by Conor McPherson and Hugh Leonard, as well as the New York premiere of a new musical based on a Truman Capote short story, are on the docket for the Irish Repertory Theatre's 2014-15 season, set to take place at the DR2 Theatre at Union Square. Irish Rep's usual home on West 22nd Street is currently undergoing renovations.

The season will open with McPherson's three-character drama Port Authority, which will star Billy Carter, Peter Maloney, and James Russell as a trio of loners whose life stories suddenly become interconnected. The production, directed by Ciarán O’Reilly, features scenic design by Charlie Corcoran, costume design by Linda Fisher, lighting design by Michael Gottlieb, sound design by M. Florian Staab, and music by Ryan Rumery. It runs September 24-November 16, with opening night set for October 2.

A Christmas Memory, a musical based on Capote's 1956 autobiographical short story about a friendship between a seven-year-old and his elderly cousin, runs November 25-January 4 under the direction of Charlotte Moore. The musical features a score by Carol Hall (The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas) and Larry Grossman (Minnie's Boys), and a book by Duane Poole.

Leonard's Da, also directed by Moore, takes up the third slot, running January 14-March 8. The memory play follows a Dublin man who returns to his childhood home after his father's funeral only to find his father's ghost unwilling to leave.

A fourth production will be announced in the coming months.
