Frozen producer Peter Del Vecho has confirmed plans that the Academy Award-winning film is ice-skating its way to Broadway. He announced the news to TVGuide.com in anticipation of the upcoming ABC hour-long special The Story of Frozen: Making an Animated Classic, airing on Tuesday, September 2 at 8pm.

"There is no specific timeline for that," Del Vecho told the publication, though he admitted that it is "under development." The film's directors, Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, are expected to be involved as well.

This news further confirms what Walt Disney CEO and chairman Bob Iger revealed earlier this year in his demands for "excellence."

The film won 2014 Oscars for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song and has grossed over $1.2 billion in worldwide box office revenue. The Broadway stars that appear in the film are Tony Award winner Idina Menzel (Wicked, If/Then) as the icy princess Elsa, Kristen Bell (The Crucible) as Elsa's younger sister Anna, Tony nominee Santino Fontana (Cinderella) as Hans, Tony nominee Jonathan Groff (Spring Awakening) as Kristoff, and Tony nominee Josh Gad (The Book of Mormon) as the lovable snowman Olaf.
