Reed Birney, who recently won a Drama Desk Award for Harvey Fierstein's Casa Valentina, will reunite with costar Nick Westrate for a reading of Matthew-Lee Erlbach's new play, A Neighbor in the Area. The free reading, directed by Wes Grantom, will take place on Wednesday, August 27 at 8:30pm, at The Judson Loft. Also featured in the cast will be Brad Bellamy, Charlotte Booker, Heather Lind, and Devin Norik.

A Neighbor in the Area takes place in 1966 suburban Westchester and centers on an isolated Quebecois woman on the verge of an existential crisis whose bizarre and taboo affair suddenly spins out of control. It explores the tensions of the unsaid, the alienation of modern society, and our escapist relationship with technology.

Matthew-Lee Erlbach's most recent writing credits include Eager to Lose, a Burlesque in Rhyming Verse, which enjoyed an extended run off-Broadway at Ars Nova, and his solo piece, Handbook for an American Revolutionary, which he performed in a 2013 run at the Gym at Judson.
