The Amoralists Exorcise Their Sexual Demons in The Cheaters Club

Get a first look at The Amoralists’ final production of the summer.

Following a successful run of Mark Roberts’ dark comedy Rantoul and Die, The Amoralists have returned to the stage with their signature theatrical flair in The Cheaters Club, the company’s second and final summer production. Written by the company’s founder and resident playwright, Derek Ahonen, preview performances of The Cheaters Club began on August 17 in advance of an August 27 opening, and will run through September 21 at the Abrons Arts Center.

A murder mystery set in Savannah, Georgia, the play follows siblings Tommy, Jimmy, and Cathy, along with a man named Vonn. As members of “The Cheaters Club,” they go on yearly trips with the goal of “exorcising their sexual demons.” On this year’s trip, they find themselves at the haunted Chaney Inn, run by a mysterious family and their voodoo-doing housemaid.
