The Last Ship, a new musical by recording superstar Sting, is apparently heading to Broadway next fall, according to an Equity casting notice. The show features a book by Tony Award winners Brian Yorkey (Next to Normal) and John Logan (I’ll Eat You Last: A Chat With Sue Mengers).

The musical centers on Gideon, a 30-something man who returns to his home in Newcastle, England. The story incorporates biographical elements of Sting’s own life. Tony Award winner Jeffrey Seller (In the Heights) will produce along with Sting’s manager, Kathryn Schenker.

The Last Ship will feature choreography by Tony nominee Steven Hoggett (Once). Joe Mantello (I’ll Eat You Last: A Chat With Sue Mengers) will direct the staged reading that is scheduled for this spring.
