Rebecca Luker to Temporarily Replace Victoria Clark in Broadway’s Cinderella

The Tony Award nominee becomes Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother on September 6.

Tony Award nominee Rebecca Luker (Death Takes a Holiday) will fly into the Broadway production of Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella beginning September 6 and take on the role of Marie, Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother. Victoria Clark, who originated the role, will leave the musical temporarily to take on a new project and return on January 21.

Luker received Tony Award nominations for her performances in Mary Poppins, The Music Man, and Showboat. She has also been seen on Broadway in Nine, The Sound of Music, The Secret Garden, and The Phantom of the Opera. She will play her final performance in Cinderella on January 19.

Now in its eighth month at the Broadway Theatre, Cinderella stars Drama Desk Award winners Laura Osnes and Santino Fontana as Cinderella and Prince Topher, respectively. The principal company also includes Harriet Harris, Peter Bartlett, Ann Harada, Marla Mindelle, and Greg Hildreth. With a score by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, the musical features a book by Douglas Carter Beane and is directed by Mark Brokaw.
