Randy Graff, Jennifer Mudge, Cotter Smith Set for Primary Stages’s ESPA*Drills Reading Series

Primary Stages ESPA has announced the cast and directors of the ESPA*Drills Reading Series, which will run August 16-23 at 59E59 Theaters.

The plays selected for the series include Heidi Armbruster’s Dairyland (August 16 at 12 pm), which focuses on Allie, a culinary critic, directed by Lisa Rothe. The cast will feature Kelly AuCoin, Christopher Catalano, Katharine McLeod, Kelley Rae O’Donnell, Cotter Smith, and Jennifer R. Terrell. Next, Patricia McGregor will direct Siobhan Antonioli’s Honey (August 16 at 3 pm), in which a Klansman’s daughter invites a young, black girl to her birthday party. The cast of Honey will include Betsy Aidem, Kimberly Belflower, Joaquina Kalukango, CJ Wilson, Sanford Wilson, and Rick Younger.

The series will also include Karin Shook’s The Horse and Carriage (August 23 at 12 pm). Directed by Daniel Goldstein and featuring Chris Henry Coffey, Kyle Minshew, and Jennifer Mudge, this play shows why “Are you happy?” is a dangerous question for a husband to ask at the dinner table. The final offering will be Welcome Home by Stephen Brown, the story of 21-year-old Tommy, whose brother has been missing for over a year. Casey Childs will direct the cast, which includes Randy Graff, and Jessica Vera, Dan Vidor.
