New York City Center’s Encores! Pipe Dream CD to Be Released September 18

The previously reported live cast recording of New York City Center Encores! production of Pipe Dream will be released by Ghostlight Records on September 18.

Produced by Rodgers & Hammerstein: An Imagem Company, this preservation of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s 1955 Broadway musical rarity marks the first time an Encores! musical has been recorded live. The production was directed by Marc Bruni, with an orchestra of 30 musicians under the baton of music director Rob Berman.

The cast of the Encores! production, which ran March 28-April 1 of this year, stars Will Chase (Doc), James Clow (Ray), Philip Hernandez (Joe), James Moye (Jim), Laura Osnes (Suzy), Steve Routman (George), Leslie Uggams (Fauna), Stephen Wallem (Hazel), and Tom Wopat (Mac).

The cast also includes Matthew Bauman, Jack Doyle, Lora Lee Gayer, James Harkness, Jessica Hershberg, Emily Hsu, Cara Kjellman, Denis Lambert, Analisa Leaming, Jay Lusteck, Linda Mugleston, Shannon M. O’Bryan, Monica L. Patton, Richard Pruitt, Vincent Rodriguez III, Kelly Sheehan, Martín Solá, Charlie Sutton, Nicholas Ward and Victor James Wisehart.

The CD features essays by R&H President Ted Chapin, R&H Director of Music Bruce Pomahac, Encores! Artistic Director Jack Viertel, a synopsis and more.
