Kirsten Holly Smith will star in the new musical Forever Dusty, about music legend Dusty Springfield, to be presented at New World Stages beginning November 11, with an opening on November 18. Randal Myler will direct.

Written by Smith and Jonathan Vankin, the musical tells the story of how a shy, awkward Catholic schoolgirl with the cumbersome name of Mary Isobel Catherine Bernadette O’Brien, transformed herself into the first great female pop star of the 1960s.

Michael Thomas Murray will serve as the Musical Director. The complete cast and creative team will be announced shortly.

Smith wrote and performed as Dusty Springfield in a previous incarnation of this musical, then entitled Stay Forever: The Life and Music of Dusty Springfield, and also created a concert version of the show, which she has performed at numerous venues in New York and Los Angeles as well as regionally.
