Jon Favreau to Direct Jersey Boys Film

Jon Favreau has signed on to direct the film adaptation of the Broadway musical Jersey Boys, according to published reports. As previously announced, Tony Award-winner and Academy Award-nominee John Logan will pen the screenplay, which is based on the book by Marshall Brickman & Rick Elice.

In addition, an open casting call will be held on August 18 in Philadelphia and August 26 in New York City for the four lead roles, Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito, and Nick Massi. Actors who cannot attend these auditions may upload an audition tape, the deadline for which is August 22.

Featuring music by Gaudio and lyrics by Bob Crewe, Jersey Boys tells the story of the rise of singer Frankie Valli and the singing group The Four Seasons. The film will be produced by Graham King and Favreau, with Valli and Gaudio serving as executive producers. Favreau’s credits include the films Elf, Iron Man, and Swingers, among many others.
