Flight, Starring Denzel Washington, to Close New York Film Festival

Flight, which will star Tony Award and Academy Award winner Denzel Washington, will make its world premiere as the closing-night selection of the New York Film Festival on October 14, according to reports. The film will open commercially on November 2.


The film, directed by Oscar winner Robert Zemeckis and written by John Gatins, stars Washington as a commercial airline pilot who saves nearly 100 people by landing a damaged plane, but who must later deal with of an investigation of his behavior the night before the doomed flight.


The cast will also includes Oscar and Drama Desk winner Melissa Leo, Don Cheadle, John Goodman, Tamara Tunie, Kelly Reilly, and Bruce Greenwood.


Washington won the Tony for Fences and also appeared on Broadway in Julius Caesar. He won Academy Awards for his work in Glory and Training Day, and was nominated for his work in Cry Freedom, Malcolm X,, and The Hurricane.
