Daniel Sunjata to Join NBC’s Smash

Broadway veteran Daniel Sunjata will join the cast of NBC’s Smash as a love interest for Debra Messing’s character, Julia Houston, according to EW.com.
Sunjata starred in the Off-Broadway and Broadway productions of Take Me Out, and also appeared on Broadway as Christian opposite Kevin Kline in the 2007 revival of Cyrano de Bergerac. He is well known for his role as Franco Rivera in the FX Network series, Rescue Me and had a recurring role on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy.
No firm date has been announced for the return of Smash. The series stars Christian Borle, Megan Hilty, Jack Davenport, Katharine McPhee, and Anjelica Huston. In addition, Jeremy Jordan, Krysta Rodriguez, and Jennifer Hudson will appear in the show next season.
