Additional details have been announced for the new Broadway production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella, which will play the Broadway Theatre (1681 Broadway) beginning January 21, 2013 with an opening on February 21.

Mark Brokaw will direct the production, which will feature a new book by Douglas Carter Beane.

In addition to the previously reported stars Laura Osnes as Cinderella and Santino Fontana as the Prince, the cast will feature Tony Award winners Victoria Clark (fairy godmother Marie) and Harriet Harris (Madame, Cinderella’s stepmother), along with Peter Bartlett (Sebastian, Prince Topher’s mentor and Prime Minister of the Kingdom), Greg Hildreth (the rebel Jean-Michel), Ann Harada (stepsister Charlotte), and Marla Mindelle (stepsister Gabrielle).

The production will feature choreography by Josh Rhodes; music adaptation, supervision and arrangements by David Chase; scenic design by Anna Louizos; costume design by William Ivey Long; lighting design by Ken Posner; and sound design by Nevin Steinberg. Andy Einhorn is music director and conductor.

Beane’s book for the musical offers a new romantic twist on the ultimate makeover story of a maid-turned-princess, mixing fresh comedy and wit with the beloved tale’s classic elements — the pumpkin, glass slipper, masked ball and more. The production will feature musical numbers from the original score — including “In My Own Little Corner,” “Impossible/It’s Possible,” “Ten Minutes Ago” and “Do I Love You Because You’re Beautiful?” — as well as several songs from the Rodgers & Hammerstein trunk.

This production of Cinderella marks the Broadway premiere for the celebrated musical, which was originally written for television in 1957.
