The FringeNYC production of Greg Kotis and Mark Hollman’s Yeast Nation (the triumph of life), at La MaMa’s Ellen Stewart Theatre, has added a performance to its otherwise sold-out run, to be presented on Tuesday, August 23 at 8pm.

Set in 3,000,458,000 B.C., it tells the story of the first creatures ever — the yeasts — as they discover a force called “love,” changing the course of history.

The cast includes Erik Altemus, Jennifer Blood, Rheaume Crenshaw, Rick Crom, Nick Gaswirth, Kimiko Glenn, Douglas Goodhart, Harriet Harris, Antwayn Hopper, Lauren Lebowitz, George McDaniel, Manu Narayan, Charlie Plummer, Joy Suprano, and Emily Tarpey.

Kotis and Hollman are also the creators of Urinetown, which played the 1999 FringeNYC, prior to a run Off-Broadway, and then on Broadway.
