Ruby Dee, Carmen DeLavallade Set for EST’s The River Crosses Rivers II

Ensemble Studio Theatre has announced the lineup for The River Crosses Rivers II, an evening of 10-minute plays by women of color to run September 14 – October 17.

The series will include Regina Taylor’s Post Black, about a 110-year-old woman who encounters a group of young people in an airport and is forced to confront a “post black” generation. Ruby Dee and Carmen DeLavallade will alternate playing the central character under playwright Taylor’s direction.

The lineup also includes France-Luce Benson’s Learning to Swim, directed by Elizabeth Van Dyke, Christine Jean Chambers’ One Quarter, directed by Talvin Wilks, Pearl Cleage’s One for the Brothers, directed by Woodie King, Jr., Nuveen Bahar Choudhury’s Skin, directed by Jamie Richards, Philana Omorotionmwan’s The Settlement, directed by Dean Irby, Desi Moreno-Penson’s Comida de Puta (F@$king Lousy Food), directed by José Zayas, Cori Thomas’ Waking Up, directed by Tea Alagic, and Bridgette Wimberly’s Modern Romance, directed by Chuck Patterson.
