The cast for the new Off-Broadway production of Jonathan Larson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning musical Rent met the press at an event held at New World Stages on August 1. The Pulitzer Prize-winning musical is currently in previews, with an opening scheduled for August 11.
The show is directed by Michael Greif, who helmed the show’s original production. Kevin McCollum and Jeffrey Seller and Allen S. Gordon are the producers.
The cast of Rent is Annaleigh Ashford (Maureen), Margot Bingham (Alexi Darling, Roger’s Mom), Adam Chanler-Berat (Mark), Nicholas Christopher (Collins), Arianda Fernandez (Mimi), Marcus Paul James (Mr. Jefferson, Paul), Tamika Sonja Lawrence (Mrs. Jefferson, woman with bags), Corbin Reid (Joanne), MJ Rodriguez (Angel), Matt Shingledecker (Roger), Ephraim Sykes (Benny), Ben Thompson (Christmas caroler, Mr. Grey, The Man), Michael Wartella (Steve, Gordon, Waiter), and Morgan Weed (Mark’s Mom). Also in the company are Sean Michael Murray, Xavier Cano, and Genny Padilla.
The creative team includes choreographer Larry Keigwin; music supervisor Tim Weil; set designer Mark Wendland; costume designer Angela Wendt; lighting designer Kevin Adams; sound designer Brian Ronan, and projection designer by Peter Nigrini.
