Masterworks Broadway will release Godspell – The 40th Anniversary Celebration, a two-disc set, on September 6, both digitaly and in stores.

This newly remastered collection includes both the original 1971 Off-Broadway cast recording and the 1973 motion picture soundtrack. Composer Stephen Schwartz has written new liner notes for the package, which comes out in advance of the musical’s first ever Broadway revival of Godspell, which begins performances at New York City’s Circle in the Square Theatre on October 13, with an official opening set for November 7.

The musical is a take on biblical parables and the passion of Christ, and features such hits as “Day By Day,” “All For the Best,” and “Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord.”
