Making War Horse will air on THIRTEEN tonight, August 10, at 8pm.

The documentary goes behind the scenes of the National Theatre of Great Britain’s Tony Award-winning production of War Horse, currently playing Lincoln Center Theater’s Vivian Beaumont Theater. It includes rehearsal and backstage footage, interviews with the original production team, actors and puppeteers, and extracts from show.

War Horse is based on the novel by Michael Morpurgo and adapted by Nick Stafford, directed by Marianne Elliott and Tom Morris, and presented in association with Handspring Puppet Company. The piece centers on the bond between a young man and his horse, Joey, and the events that happen after Joey is sold to the cavalry and shipped to France at the onset of World War I.

Making War Horse was the first documentary commissioned by the National Theatre and was produced by the National Theatre and Seventh Art. It was written, filmed and directed by David Bickerstaff and Phil Grabsky, and produced by Phil Grabsky, David Sabel and Toby Coffey.
