Larry Keigwin, Isaac Mizrahi, et al. Set for Works & Process at the Guggenheim Series

Works & Process at the Guggenheim has announced its 2011 fall season, which will open with James Dillon’s symphonic cycle, Nine Rivers, to be presented at 8pm on September 14, 16, and 17 at the Miller Theater at Columbia University.


Other highlights of the season, to be to be presented at the Guggenheim Museum’s Peter B. Lewis Theater, will include The Music of Elliot Carter Interpreted , featuring new choreography by Emery LeCrone and Avi Scher (October 2-3 at 7:30pm);
a preview of American Ballet Theatre’s upcoming season, featuring works by Twyla Tharp, Merce Cunningham, and Demis Volpi (October 16-17 at 7:30pm); the premiere of choreographer Larry Keigwin’s new work, Balloon Dance (October 30-31 at 7:30pm); a performance by Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba (November 6-7 at 7:30pm); and award-winning composer Fred Ho’s The Sweet Science Suite: A Scientific Soul Music Honoring of Muhammad Ali, featuring choreography by Christal Brown (November 13-14).


The series will conclude with a special performance of Sergei Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf, played by the Juillliard Ensemble and narrated by Isaac Mizrahi (December 10, 11, 16, 17, 18 at 2:30pm and 4pm), and a free holiday concert in the museum’s Rotunda, featuring the Vox Vocal Ensemble and the Graham Ashton Brass Ensemble, conducted by George Steel (December 18-19 at 7pm).
