Jeff McCarthy, Annette O’Toole Set for CAP21’s Southern Comfort Musical

Jeff McCarthy and Annette O’Toole will star in Southern Comfort, which will play CAP21, October 5-29. Tom Caruso will direct the production.

The show, with book and lyrics by Dan Collins and music by Julianne Wick Davis, is based on Kate Davis’s award-winning documentary about transgender friends in rural Georgia. Additional casting will be announced.

McCarthy, who will play Lola, received a Drama Desk nomination for originating the role of Officer Lockstock in Broadway’s Urinetown, with other Main Stem credits including Chicago, The Pirate Queen, Side Show, and Beauty and the Beast.

O’Toole, who will play Robert Eads, received an Emmy nomination for the ABC miniseries The Kennedys of Massachusetts, and may be best known for her work on television shows like Smallville and Nash Bridges. In addition, she has been seen Off-Broadway in The Seagull at Classic Stage Company and Kindness at Playwrights Horizons, among others.
