Jane Kaczmarek to Join Cast of NBC’s Whitney

Stage and screen star Jane Kaczmarek will join the cast of NBC’s new sitcom Whitney, according to The Hollywood Reporter. She will play the mother of the title character, to be played by Whitney Cummings.

Kaczmarek starred on Broadway in Lost in Yonkers and she has appeared frequently on the L.A. stage in such works as Standing on Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays, In Mother Words, The House of Blue Leaves, and LATW’s Death of a Salesman.

She is well known for her work on the hit TV series Malcolm in the Middle, for which she received seven Emmy Award nominations. Her many other television credits include Raising the Bar, Wilfred, Cybill, Help Me Help You, The Paper Chase, and Hill Street Blues.
