Emma Rice will adapt and direct Kneehigh’s upcoming production The Wild Bride, at Lyric Hammersmith, September 7-24, with an opening on September 12.

Inspired by the original Grimm fairytale The Handless Maiden, this dramatic re-working uses a mix of storytelling, humor, poetic physicality and live soul music to chart one girl’s journey into adulthood. The production features text & lyrics by Carl Grose, music by Stu Barker, and choreographer Etta Murfitt.

It will be designed by Bill Mitchell with costumes by Myriddin Wannell, lighting by Malcolm Rippeth, and sound by Simon Baker.

Kneehigh’s most recent productions include Brief Encounter, which played Broadway last season under Rice’s direction, as well as The Red Shoes, The Umbrellas of Cherbourg and Hansel & Gretel.
