Cherise Boothe, Eisa Davis, Angela Lewis, LeRoy McClain, J. Mallory-McCree, Nikiya Mathis, and Adrienne Moore will be featured in Playwrights Horizons’ New York premiere of Milk Like Sugar, by Kirsten Greenidge. Rebecca Taichman will direct the production, which runs October 13-November 20, with an opening on November 1.

The play concerns 16-year-old Annie (played by Lewis), an inner-city girl who struggles between the pregnancy pact she made with her friends and her need to carve out a life beyond the only one she knows.

The production will feature scenic design by Mimi Lien, costume design by Miranda Hoffman, lighting design by Justin Townsend and sound design by Andre Pleuss.

The majority of the acting company is the same as the previously reported cast for the La Jolla Playhouse production, which begins later this month. The exception is Davis, who is joining the cast for New York, replacing Tonya Pinkins, who is part of the La Jolla company.
