Colman Domingo, Lisa Kron, Itamar Moses et al. Set for Public’s New Work Now

The Public Theater has announced playwrights and directors for its reading series, New Work Now!, to be presented September 7-18. All readings are at 7pm.


Works will include Zero, by Julian Sheppard, directed by Leigh Silverman; The Ver**zon Play, by Lisa Kron, directed by Anne Kauffman; The Bad Guys, by Alena Smith, directed by Kip Fagan; Hollow Roots, by Christina Anderson, directed by Eric Ting; The Convert, by Danai Gurira, directed by Emily Mann; Mala Hierba, by Tanya Saracho, directed by Jerry Ruiz; Yellowjackets, by Itamar Moses; Starving, by S.M. Shephard-Massat, directed by Delroy Lindo; Wild With Happy, by Colman Domingo, directed by Robert O’Hara; and Mangled Beams, by Dawn Jamieson, directed by James Fall Shubinski.


In addition, there will be a special “New Work Then” presentation of The Trial of the Catonsville Nine, by Daniel Berrigan, text prepared by Saul Levitt, and directed by Gordon Davidson, who helmed the original 1971 production. That reading will be on Tuesday, September 13 at 7pm.
