Adam Rapp to Direct Lili Taylor in Karen O’s Stop the Virgens Opera

Adam Rapp will direct Stop the Virgens, to run October 12-22 at St. Ann’s Warehouse. The piece will be included as one of the events in The Creators Project: New York 2011, running October 13-16.

With songs by Karen O (frontwoman for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs) and featuring music direction by her bandmate Nick Zinner, along with Sam Spiegel, the piece is a psycho-Opera that examines the tragic joys of youth. Among the performers in the piece will be members of the Greenhornes/Raconteurs, Money Mark, YYYs drummer Brian Chase, and actress Lili Taylor.

Atlantic Theater Company will premiere Rapp’s newest play, Dreams of Flying Dreams of Falling, which will begin performances at C will premiere at Classic Stage Company, September 9 – October 23. His other plays include Red Light Winter, Finer Noble Gases, Stone Cold Dead Serious, Metal Children, and The Hallway Trilogy.
