Adam Jacobs will assume the role of Simba in Broadway's The Lion King, beginning August 30. He replaces Clifton Oliver, who played his final performance on August 26.

Jacobs has previously played Simba in the national tour of the musical. Among his other stage credits are Marius in Les Miserables on Broadway and the title role of the world premiere of Aladdin at the 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle. He has also appeared in the national tours of Mamma Mia! and Cinderella.

Based on the 1994 Disney animated film, the stage musical features Elton John and Tim Rice's music from the film along with three new songs by John and Rice; additional musical material by Lebo M, Mark Mancina, Jay Rifkin, Taymor and Hans Zimmer; and music from "Rhythm of the Pride Lands," an album inspired by the original music in the film, written by Lebo M, Mark Mancina and Hans Zimmer.

The company also features Gareth Saxe (Scar), Alton Fitzgerald White (Mufasa), Tshidi Manye (Rafiki), Jeff Binder (Zazu), Ben Jeffrey (Pumbaa), Fred Berman (Timon), Chaunteé Schuler (Nala), James Brown-Orleans (Banzai), Bonita J. Hamilton (Shenzi) and Enrique Segura (Ed). In addition, Judah Bellamy and Aubrey Omari Joseph alternate the role of Young Simba while the role of Young Nala is alternated between Shaylin Becton and Khail Toi Bryant.
