The show is directed by Thomas Kail, with choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler, and features music and lyrics by Lin Manuel Miranda, and a book by Quiara Alegría Hudes.
The musical focuses on the tight-knit community at the top of the island of Manhattan and the hopes and dreams of three generations as they struggle to forge an identity in a neighborhood on the brink of transition.
The company also features Marcy Harriell, Priscilla Lopez, Bianca Marroquin, Olga Merediz, Rick Négron, Clifton Oliver, Courtney Reed, Shaun Taylor-Corbett, and Jon Rua.
Sparks, who will be making her Broadway debut, was the youngest contestant to ever win American Idol. Her self-titled debut album was released in 2007 on 19 Recordings/Jive Records and went on to sell over 1.6 million copies worldwide.
